Reader Note:
U.S. desktop Google Search and Ads. The path matters more than any single month: 3.8-6.9% through spring and summer 2025, a jump to 19.3% in September, a 25.6% peak in October, a plateau near 22-24% to January 2026, then 9.3% in March and a partial recovery to 13.6% in April. Semrush reads the September rise as the holiday shopping season and calls the early-2026 fall a decline within a still-rising trend. Note the series runs Mar 2025 to Apr 2026, wider than the study's own Nov 2025-Apr 2026 window, so the year-on-year and peak comparisons come from this chart rather than from the six-month analysis.
